This Spoon™ opener is 3 inch (76 mm) wide. The 200-SPN-0300 is made from 1/4 inch (6 mm) material and the 200-SPN-0308 is made from 5/16 inch (8 mm) material. It is a very easy pulling opener and soil disturbance is moderately low if the working speed is kept at around 4-1/2 miles (7.25 km) per hour. Because it is wider than the 2-1/4 inch Spoon™ a 2-1/2 inch (63 mm) seed spread can be achieved which allows for slightly higher rates of nitrogen fertilizer to be placed with the seed. This is an economical seed opener for producers wanting to maintain a wider seed spread.
